Easter: From Death to Life

An important message of Easter, the return of the dead soul to life, bears the message that death can be overcome.  This event is called “resurrection.” This was not a unique phenomenon of the Abrahamic tradition, but found in many ancient cultures.  In modern life, we see this possibility nearing through technological-biological means.

 The overall message inscribed in the story of Purim concerns a purposeful omission of the name of God.  My nephew Ron passed along to me an interesting finding.  About thirty years ago or more, Finland and the U.S. were about neck and neck in the lowest international rankings for academic performance.  At that point Finland took a step to revamp its educational system and changed its approach to children’s school experience.  They cut down school hours to four, forsook homework, instituted more play, music, and creative activity.
